Taken on the first flying day after we arrived in Orkney, and in the same flight as the MV Hamnvoe - in a previous video - this was supposd to be an atmospheric flight arund the Second World War Ness Battery, but instead ended up being a retreat from an angry Oystercatcher!
Given the potential to injure the bird - who was only doing his best to defend his nes and young - it was better to leave the area asap and ensure we didnt hurt him, plus kept the drone safe for further flights of the holiday.
This attack - and footage of other similar ird atacks on Orkney - was why I was so nervous about fling near any birdlife, far better to keep our distance and prevent injury to the wildlife and damage to the drone.. Throughout the week long visit to Orkney and a total of 21 Drone flights we only had to take evasive action twice, once here and once at Skara Brae.
